Blazers crush Cougars 3-0

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers had a real solid performance in a 3-0 shutout win over the Prince George Cougars on Sunday night. The win puts the Blazers to only two points behind the Cougars for the lead in the B.C. Division.

Collin Shirley opened the scoring late in the first period. He was patient with the puck and potted his 24th of the season. The Blazers had a real good first period as they outshot the Cougars 19-12.

Rudolfs Balcers made it 2-0 on a great individual effort. He slid a puck through a defender before scoring five-hole on goaltender Ty Edmonds for a 2-0 lead.

The Blazers iced the game early in the third period as Garrett Pilon scored his 15th of the season on another great individual effort and the Blazers went on to win 3-0 over the Cougars.

Connor Ingram was solid when called upon making 28 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and 11th of his WHL career.

The win improves the Blazers record to 36-19-2-4. The Blazers have 78 points and sit second in the B.C. Division, two points behind the Cougars.

The Blazers play next on Tuesday nightwhen they host the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Sandman Centre. Game time is 7:00pm.
