KAMLOOPS — After years spent inhabiting separate campuses in the city, the Kamloops School of the Arts was finally unified in September of 2016. The school, which is housed in the former John Peterson Secondary campus in South Kamloops, is holding an open house tonight, to showcase just what it is the students do.

The open house starts at 7:00pm, and feature a variety of different activities. Grade 12 student Ame Van Zyl says she’s looking forward to the opportunity of showing off just what it is the students at the school are passionate about.

“It’s basically a celebration that the school’s finally in one building, because they’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time,” Van Zyl told CFJC Today. “It’s going to have a bunch of different performances happening, in a bunch of different rooms in the school, and everyone is welcome to come and watch, it’s going to be so much fun.”

The Open House is also an opportunity for those interested in attending to get a taste of what the Kamloops School of the Arts has to offer.

“The purpose [of the event] is to promote our school, and show what we have and what we do,” Grade 12 student Jeremy Phillips explained. “I’m in the music program… so we do a lot of field trips, and a lot of performances around town, and even to different cities. I’ve had so much fun.”
