TORONTO — Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was forced to briefly leave the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Penguins in the opening minutes after taking a skate blade under the chin on Saturday night.

Tangling with Steve Oleksy in front, James van Riemsdyk’s left skate veered up and caught Fleury under the mask.

He signalled to the bench and was eventually treated by one of the team’s trainers before exiting to the dressing room.

Fleury didn’t appear to be in much distress, but looked to require additional attention. The Sorel-Tracy, Que., native needed five stitches for the cut on his neck, located around the Adam’s apple.
