KAMLOOPS — For the second time in the past two years, Royal Inland Hospital is looking for a new head administrator.
Health Services Administrator Carol Laberge has announced she is leaving Kamloops to take a position as executive director for Cardiac Services BC, operating under the Provincial Health Services Authority.
Laberge says her entire family is in the Lower Mainland, and she has lived apart from her husband for seven years as she has followed her career path.
Even so, Laberge says she doesn’t regret working at RIH for nearly two years.
“It has been an awesome opportunity,” Laberge said. “This hospital here in Kamloops is amazing. I call it the ‘workhorse hospital.’ They never say no; they step up. The clinicians that work here are amazing, the people are amazing and I am just so honoured to have this position.”
Laberge says her last day at RIH will be December 23.
“The opportunity it afforded me, I’ve learned so much, and just to see and meet the people that have been here has truly been an honour.”
Tracey Rannie will fill the lead role at RIH on an interim basis, until a permanent successor for Laberge is found.
