Draisaitl, Talbot lead Oilers to 5-0 win over Western Conference-best Blackhawks
EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers hope they are finally out of their funk.
Leon Draisaitl had a pair of goals and added an assist and Cam Talbot made 31 saves for his third shutout of the season as the Oilers came away with a 5-0 victory over the Western Conference-leading Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.
“They’ve been playing some good hockey lately so it’s not an easy team to shut out by any means,” Talbot said. “We played a great team game. That’s a huge statement win for us tonight.”
Oscar Klefbom, Andrej Sekera and Anton Slepyshev also scored for the Oilers (11-8-1), who have won two in a row on the heels of a five-game losing skid. Connor McDavid has a pair of assists against the Blackhawks to move into the NHL scoring lead with 24 points in 20 games.
