B-100’s Basics for Babies holds 10th annual fundraiser

“The breakfast starts at 7 o’clock Friday morning at Hotel 540, everyone’s welcome you can bring your kids, and a beautiful piece of this is that people always bring baby items with them, diapers, formula and we fill up our truck it’s quite a site. We’ll be putting it all under the Christmas tree at Hotel 540 and showing off how this community supports us,” says Bernadette Siracky, Executive Director, Kamloops Food Bank.

Many families can’t afford to buy groceries, and this year especially more children are accessing the food bank than ever. 34% of the 7,000 individuals the agency serves on site are under the age of 18. And right now, the food bank is currently serving 800 babies.

“The cause touches everybody’s heart, we are there at the food bank to ensure the babies in our community living at or below the poverty line have diapers, formula, baby food and cereal year round. That’s what this event does for us, it ensures we can purchase those items and have them available at all times. It’s our commitment as a community to our most vulnerable to ensure they have what they need for a better future,” says Siracky.

B-100’S Basics for Babies runs from 7am to 10am Friday morning at Hotel 540 on Victoria Street. You’re encouraged to bring anything from diapers, formula, baby food and blankets, to help children in need.
