Ontario Red rolls to Canadian women’s under-18 final with 9-1 win over B.C.

REGINA — Sarah Fillier and Avery Mitchell had two goals apiece as Ontario Red cruised to a 9-1 win over British Columbia on Saturday in the semifinal of the Canadian under-18 women’s hockey championship.

Ontario Red will play Quebec in Sunday’s final.

Maria Dominico, Emma Buckles, Lexie Adzija, Camryn Tait and Coralie Larose also scored for Ontario Red, which hasn’t lost in its four games in the tournament. Ontario Red had six of its goals in the second period, a new tournament record. Danika Ranger made 21 saves for the win.

Reece Hunt replied for B.C. early in the second, while Kendra Woodland and Kate Stuart split time in net.

Edith D’Astous-Moreau made 31 saves as Quebec shut out Ontario Blue 3-0 in the other semi.

Also, Courtney Kollman had a pair of goals to lead Alberta past Saskatchewan 6-4 in the fifth-place game and Morgan Wabick scored four times to lift Manitoba over Team Atlantic 6-1 in the seventh-place game.
