KAMLOOPS — BC Transportation Minister Todd Stone says the pilot project that would allow golf carts on certain streets in Chase and Qualicum Beach is being put on hold.

Stone says his ministry has heard loud and clear from residents of both communities who are concerned about dropping the speed limit on those streets to 30 kilometres per hour.

“We are going to take a bit more time over the winter to address a few of the concerns that have been raised by residents in both communities. Most notably the concern with respect to reducing the speed limit on designated roads where these golf carts would be permitted,” said Stone.

Stone notes the project likely wouldn’t have gotten off the ground before the snow flies in Chase anyway.
