Carr scores winner as Canadiens defeated Boston 4-3 in pre-season game
QUEBEC — Dan Carr is making a case for starting the season with the Montreal Canadiens.
The 25-year-old winger scored with 4:50 left in the third period as the Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins 4-3 in NHL pre-season action Tuesday before 17,196 at the Videotron Centre.
Carr picked off a Zdeno Chara pass at the blueline, went around Adam McQuaid and tucked the puck past Tuukka Rask for the game-winner.
“His strength is his play around the net,” coach Michel Therrien said of Carr, who had six goals in 23 games for Montreal last season, which was split between the NHL club and St. John’s in the American Hockey League. “He’s good at puck recovery.
