CIS Football: Gee-Gees score winning touchdown in 2OT to get past Gryphons
OTTAWA — Trevor Kennedy caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Wendel in double overtime as the Ottawa Gee-Gees edged the Guelph Gryphons 31-28 on Saturday afternoon in Canadian Interuniversity Sport football action.
It was Wendel’s third touchdown pass of the day and he finished 29-of-50 passing for 286 yards and two interceptions.
Bryce Vieira ran for 113 yards on 16 carries for the No. 8 Gee-Gees (3-0) while Mitchell Baines had 11 receptions for 120 yards.
James Roberts completed 25-of-40 passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for Guelph (2-2).
