The young stars on Team North America ready to impress at World Cup of Hockey
TORONTO — Todd McLellan looks down his Team North America bench and sees an array of talent that would have any hockey scout drooling.
Captain Connor McDavid, taken first overall in the 2015 NHL draft, leads a squad that includes fellow No. 1 picks Auston Matthews (2016), Aaron Ekblad (2014), Nathan MacKinnon (2013) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2011).
Add Jonathan Drouin, Jack Eichel, Johnny Gaudreau, John Gibson, Seth Jones, Matt Murray, Morgan Rielly, Mark Scheifele and Jacob Trouba and you have a World Cup team full of young stars.
You also have a different challenge than coaching an NHL squad.
