KAMLOOPS — Former Kamloops Councillor Nancy Bepple has officially let her name stand for the NDP nomination in the provincial riding of Kamloops-South Thompson.
Bepple says her main priority is working with a government that works to end child poverty in BC.
“One in the five of the kids I’ve been watching play all summer live in poverty. They live in poverty because we have decided we don’t want to do anything about it. That has to change, poverty is a provincial issue,” said Bepple.
Constituency association president Peter Northcott says the party will likely set a deadline for nominations several months from now, in an effort to find the best candidate possible.
Bepple sat on Kamloops council from 2008 to 2014, resigning near the end of her second term for health reasons.
She ran for council again in fall of 2014, but was unsuccessful.
BC Liberal MLA Todd Stone told CFJC Today in May that he will be seeking another term.
Meantime, BC Liberal MLA Terry Lake has not revealed whether he will run again in Kamloops-North Thompson.
Earlier this month Barb Nederpel was announced as the NDP candidate for the Kamloops-North Thompson riding.
