Sir Dudley Digges, Amis Gizmo to meet for bragging rights in Breeders’ Stakes
TORONTO — Sir Dudley Digges and Amis Gizmo, who split the opening two legs of the Canadian Triple Crown, will battle for bragging rights in the $500,000 Breeders’ Stakes on Sunday at Woodbine Racetrack.
Sir Dudley Digges won the $1-million Queen’s Plate on July 3, overtaking Amis Gizmo in deep stretch. But Amis Gizmo earned redemption in the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes, capturing a 5 1/2-length win at Fort Erie Racetrack on July 26 as Sir Dudley Digges finished off the board.
Robby Albarado will ride Sir Dudley Digges, replacing the injured Julien Leparoux.
Wando was the last Canadian Triple Crown winner, achieving the feat in 2003.
