QUEBEC — Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., is the top-ranked player entered in the US$250,000 National Bank Cup next month, Tennis Canada announced Wednesday.
Bouchard, listed at 39th in the world, is among four top-50 players in the 32-woman indoor event Sept. 12-18.
They include two former champions — 2015 winner Annika Beck of Germany and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni of Croatia, who defeated Venus Williams in the 2014 final. The other is Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany.
It will be 22-year-old Bouchard’s first appearance on the Laval University carpet courts since she reached the semfinals in 2013.
