Tavares, Kelusky and Sanderson named to National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame
TORONTO — John Tavares, Tracey Kelusky and Josh Sanderson were all selected for induction into the National Lacrosse League’s Hall of Fame on Thursday.
The three stars will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame on Sept. 27 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ont.
Tavares was an unanimous selection after a record-setting career. He played in a record 24 seasons in the league, all with Buffalo (1992-2015) and retired as the league’s all-time leader in games played (306), goals (815), assists (934), points (1,749), and ranked second in loose balls (2,169).
The Oakville native is a four-time Champion’s Cup winner (1992-1993, 1996 and 2008) leads NLL all-time playoff list in games played (38), goals (84), assists (116) and points (200). Tavares was the NLL’s Most Valuable Player three times (1994, 2000 and 2001) and was named NLL All-Pro a league-record 19 times (1993-2009 & 2011-2012).
