KAMLOOPS — Police are now releasing details into what caused a large scale search near Savona over the B.C. Day Long Weekend.

On Sunday July 31, Kamloops Rural RCMP received a report of a vehicle that was left near the Dump Road in Savona.

Officials determined the vehicle belonged to a lower mainland resident, but he was not found in the immediate area.

Multiple resources were used in a effort to locate the man, including ATVs, police dogs, and a boat.

On Monday August 1, Kamloops Search and Rescue was called in to assist.

Police are attempting to locate the owner’s family, and will not release his identity until they are contacted.

Foul play is not suspected, and police say they will continue to search for the owner of the abandoned vehicle.
