CHICAGO — Kris Bryant singled sharply to left field with no outs in the seventh inning Saturday for the Chicago Cubs’ first hit off the Seattle Mariners’ Wade Miley.
Dexter Fowler walked leading off the inning, and Bryant singled on a 2-2 pitch.
After a sacrifice, Javier Baez’s RBI groundout put the Cubs ahead 1-0.
Bryant had been Chicago’s only baserunner before the seventh, reaching when third baseman Kyle Seager booted his one-out grounder in the fourth for an error. Bryant was picked off first.
