VP nominee Tim Kaine urges voters to trust Hillary Clinton
PHILADELPHIA — It took just four days for Hillary Clinton’s newly minted running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, to drop the t-word.
“Let’s talk about trust,” Kaine said in his Wednesday night speech at the Democratic convention. “I trust Hillary Clinton with our son’s life.”
Traditionally, vice-presidential candidates are deployed as attack dogs, slamming their opponent to free the presidential candidate to rise above the political fray, and Kaine did spend much of his speech accepting his party’s nomination going after GOP rival Donald Trump.
But the Virginia senator’s speech also underscored his other, more unique, role on Clinton’s ticket: Validator-in-chief.
