Preparations underway for Kamloops Marathon

KAMLOOPS — This Sunday marks the 5th annual Sportchek Kamloops Marathon with participants taking part from all over North America.

The event which is a fundraiser for TRU Athletics and the Canadian Tire jumpstart program is attracting larger numbers every year.

The runners will set off from McArthur island at 6:00 Sunday morning.

There are several different races taking place, including a full marathon, half marathon, relay run and 8k run.

There is also a 3k run for the whole family to enjoy.

The runs go through several neighbourhoods, including Brock, Westsyde, Schubert drive and over the bridge to Pioneer Park.

Traffic will only be affected along Westsyde road where the roadway will be reduced in one direction to single lane.

The course is considered attractive to runners who want to make good personal times.
