KAMLOOPS — RCMP are investigating after a frightening assault in Westsyde early this morning.

Investigators say a resident of the 3200 block of Westsyde Road awoke at about 4:15 to a noise outside.

When he saw a few people trying to get into his vehicle, he and another occupant of the home went outside to confront the suspects.

The confrontation led to a fight, and the home’s two occupants had to be taken to Royal Inland Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

Sergeant Darren Michels says officers don’t advise victims of property crime to personally confront the culprits.

“If people do notice people outside by their vehicles, if they want to scare them off, turn on a light, make some noise, that sort of thing. Call the RCMP right away, and when something is happening like that we will come very fast, and attempt to locate them,” explained Sgt. Michels.

Officers are still looking for the suspects.

The three men are all described as over 6 feet tall.

They were all wearing blue jeans, and two of them were wearing black hoodies, with the third wearing a grey hoodie.

If you know anything about the incident, Kamloops RCMP would like a call.
