KAMLOOPS — As one road construction project winds down, several others are about to begin.
There’s only line painting and minor touch-ups left to complete on Notre Dame Dr, where a road rehabilitation project began last month.
Glen Farrow, Streets and Environmental Services Manager with the City of Kamloops, said work should wrap up there within a week.
As traffic returns to normal in that area, a similar project is set to begin on Tranquille Rd between 8th and 13th streets on Monday, June 27.
“It’s expected to last from the end of June to mid August, so we’re looking at about a month and a half construction season,” Farrow said. “The work will look very similar to what we did on Notre Dame over the last couple of months, so resurfacing and some replacement of utility manholes, catch basins, and some minor concrete repairs to the sidewalks in that area.”
The Tranquille Rd rehabilitation project has a budget of approximately $600,000.
Similar to the Notre Dame project, one lane in either direction will remain open to traffic.
One area that will see more traffic disruptions is along Pacific Way, where roadwork is slated to begin later this summer.
“With that one there’s a new water line replacement, so with that it will have an impact on traffic up in the Aberdeen corridor,” Farrow said. “The one nice thing about that is the residents will have a nicely finished Aberdeen Dr. that we did last year, so the access into Aberdeen will be through Aberdeen Dr., the easier route into Aberdeen. We’re anticipating that project to begin later this summer.”
