KAMLOOPS — He may be retired, but the awards continue to be heaped on the former Chair of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group.
Rick Arnish was named the Broadcaster of the Year by the B.C. Association of Broadcasters last night at their annual convention in Penticton.
Arnish, who retired from his post in January of this year after 47 years at Broadcast Centre, was honored for his long service to his community and to the industry.
During his career, he was active in many community projects, from business associations, to the Canada Games in 1993, and the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.
As a broadcaster, he took an active role in many broadcast associations, and in later years worked with the Small Markets Initiative to lobby on behalf of small market television broadcasters in Canada.
Pattison Broadcast Group President Rod Schween said Arnish’s contributions to Kamloops and the broadcast industry are immeasurable.
This is not Arnish’s first time winning the award.
He won the award several years ago, but Schween says this is the first time in a long time, if ever, that a broadcaster has won the award twice.
Schween himself won the award in 2006 and says the prestigious honour for Arnish was well deserved.
