Search continues for Salmon Arm senior with dementia

SALMON ARM — Salmon Arm residents are being asked to check their own properties as the search for a missing Salmon Arm senior with dementia continues.

The RCMP say Christopher Allbury, 70, was last seen on the afternoon of Friday May 6 at the seniors facility where he lives.

“The care home staff and police are most concerned for Christopher’s well-being as he suffers from mental health issues and dementia,” wrote Cpl. Dave Tyreman in a media release.

Allbury was reported missing Tuesday.

Shuswap Search and Rescue members were called in Tuesday to look for Allbury. They searched the area where he was last seen, as well as trails and the area along a railway track.

Shuswap Search and Rescue said a RCMP helicopter and dog were also involved in the search Tuesday.

Wednesday afternoon search and rescue crews are expected to be back out searching the shoreline of the lake.

“We are also asking the public to search their own properties…just to make sure that he is not held up there. We can only work with our last known point and that was the lodge so we just kind of start searching out from that area,” said Shuswap Search and Rescue search manager Tara Stanley.

Police say Allbury is 6’1 and 160 lb with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Allbury is asked to call 911.
