It was recently announced by the Olympic Organizing Committee, that climbing will be recognized as a full medal event in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. It’s expected the funding committment from the province, will help grow the sport to new levels.

“Member numbers have expanded tremendously, we’ve doubled every year for the last 3 years, now we’re looking at running bigger competitions, running more widely across the province, this will be a package we can take to a gym, set it up and have everything we need to run a high class sanctioned competition,” says Iain Stewart-Patterson, President of Sport Climbing BC.
