North Shore French Immersion school a future possibility
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops-Thompson School District has taken a first small step toward alleviating pressures being felt in the district’s French Immersion program.
The board of education anticipated the program was getting full, but wasn’t aware just how high in demand it really is. Trustees are now looking at the potential of establishing a single-track French Immersion school on the North Shore, to provide more space. However, with the province asking the district to scale back administrative costs, to the tune of $2-million over the next two years, opening up a new school could prove challenging.
