Public meetings on access road to former Owl Road landfill

KAMLOOPS — After purchasing the Owl Road landfill in January, the City of Kamloops will be turning it into a resource recovery centre.

As the city transitions the landfill to a recovery site over the next few years items like wood, drywall, asphalt, concrete and other construction type materials, will eventually be re purposed and recycled.

In the meantime, the city will be hosting public meetings to review possible access points into the site.

Streets and Environmental Services Manager Glen Farrow says, right now we’re using an access road off Owl Road on Valleyview Drive.

There has been a desire to no longer use that and to go off Highland Road instead.

Interested residents are invited to bring forward their comments and concerns to the meetings next Tuesday and Wednesday.
