KAMLOOPS — Close to 350 walkers took part in the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in downtown Kamloops Saturday February 20th.

Executive Director of New Life Community Stan Dueck says, preliminary numbers show close to 45-thousand dollars was collected in the event that raises money to address homelessness in Kamloops.

“There’s people out there 365 days of the year whether it’s hot, cold or wet, and they need our support. They need our help, we need to do what we can to get them the services that they need,” says Dueck.

The coldest Night of the Year is a national initiative where participants walk the streets at night in an attempt to get a feel of what it would be like to live rough in the Winter.

The walk marked the 5th consecutive year that New Life Community has participated in.
