Close encounter with coyotes in Kenna Cartwright
KAMLOOPS — The Conservation Service is investigating a report that a woman walking her dog in Kenna Cartwright Park this morning had a close encounter with a pack of coyotes.
Conservation Officer Kevin Van Damme says the incident was a little out of the ordinary.
“Unusual for coyotes to actually make contact with people [it’s] extremely rare for that to happen, possibly the coyotes were interested in the dog, and that is why they came a little closer to her,” said Van Damme.
He notes Kenna Cartwright does have a stable coyote population, and the animals do sometimes hunt in their family groups.
