PRINCE GEORGE — Treacherous road conditions may have played a role in a fatal crash involving a car and a semi-truck Tuesday morning south of Hixon.

The crash occurred around 10:00am, approximately 13 kilometres south of Hixon.

RCMP say the initial investigation suggests a car was trying to pass the semi when it spun out of control on the icy road, clipped the  semi and then swung into the ditch.

The male driver of the car was declared dead at the scene.

The highway has since re-opened in this location.

RCMP say one person was killed in a crash north of 70 Mile House this morning.

It happened at about 8:15am, along a four-lane stretch of Highway 97.

Sergeant Mike Pears of Central Interior Traffic Services says a northbound vehicle crossed the centre divider and hit a southbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was killed, and the driver of the southbound vehicle was rushed to hsopital for treatment.

The road has since re-opened at this location.
