‘Tips beat Blazers in overtime

The Silvertips tied it up late in the period. A blocked shot ended up on the stick of Brandon Ralph and he put it into an open net to tie the game at 1-1through the first period.

Shots were 11-5 for the ‘Tips in the first period.

Both teams play a structured game and there were not a lot of chances in the second period.

The Blazers took the lead on their only power play of the night. Deven Sideroff whipped a shot past goaltender Mario Petit on the glove side to make it 2-1 Blazers late in the second period.

It was a solid period by both teams as the Blazers took a 2-1 lead into the final frame.

In the third period, the Blazers started well and got a goal from Matt Revel off the rush for a 3-1 lead with 14:32 to play.

The Silvertips came on as the Blazers wore down in the third period, as they were playing their fifth game in seven nights.

Matt Fonteyne scored on a rebound on the power play to cut the Blazers lead to 3-2.

Carson Stadnyk tied the game up at 3-3 with 7:11to go on a rush.

The ‘Tips continued to push, but goaltenderConnor Ingram had a strong night and helped the Blazers get to overtime. The ‘Tips outshot the Blazers 18-3 in the third period.

Overtime has not been friendly to the Blazers this season and the ‘Tips won it 46 seconds in.

Noah Juulsen drove wide and snuck a puck underneath Ingram to give the ‘Tips a 4-3 overtime win.

The ‘Tips outshot the Blazers 38-17 on the night. The Blazers were 1-for-1 with the power play, while the ‘Tips were 1-for-4.

The Blazers will take Sunday off before getting ready for home games on Wednesday, January 6thagainst Prince George and Friday, January 8thagainst Tri-City.
