KAMLOOPS — Kamloops residents will have to wait a little while longer to learn details of the KGHM-Ajax copper-gold mine proposal.

The company has announced a planned submission of its final environmental application, that was to take place January 4, 2016 will now happen later in the month.

Vice-President of External Affairs Yves Lacasse says the company is balancing its desire to get the process moving quickly, with the desires of other stakeholders.

“We received the request from First Nations for a little bit more time, so they need a little more time to prepare for the upcoming technical review,” said Lacasse, adding “When we take that into account now as a group here, we decided that maybe [we] would postpone submitting the application to maybe a little later on down the month.”

Lacasse notes he is confident the submission will be made during the month of January, and it won’t be delayed again.
