KAMLOOPS — Since it was announced in the fall of 2012, Star Wars fans have been waiting patiently for the sequel trilogy to open in theatres.

Today, the first of three new Star Wars films arrived; Episode VII: “The Force Awakens is already set to break office records.

Like a modern day Luke and Anakin, Derrik and Mike Lauer arrived early to the Cineplex Odeon Aberdeen Mall, to secure their seats.

Derrik is cautiously optimistic about the new film: “George Lucas liked it.” While Mike has avoided all spoilers, by completely staying away from any promotional material.

Helen Chatterly, who manages the Cineplex in Kamloops, says considering the amount of fans who attended opening night, she expects to be very busy in the next few weeks. And while it wasn’t too busy this afternoon, Chatterly says tonights shows are already sold out.
