Local company gives Kamloops Food Bank big financial gift

KAMLOOPS — On a day when hundreds of Christmas hampers are being handed out to clients at the Kamloops Food Bank, the non-profit agency has received a big holiday gift.

Sun Ridge Equipment in Kamloops dropped off a cheque for $5,000 this morning, to help stock the shelves at the food bank. Over 6500 individuals access the food bank every year, and the organization is always busy trying to keep up with the demand of people struggling to make ends meet. Donations are vital, and Carrie Leonard with Sun Ridge Equipment, says the company wants to help make Christmas brighter for those in need.

“I haven’t been to this side and seen the majority of the people that are there, and obviously it’s a need, and that’s what we’re here for. We focus on culture, education, sports recreation, and the food bank is one of our biggest this year where we wanted to give back, and help the families in need. Christmas and winter is one of the hardest times to get through no matter what, so giving back is in the heart and it feels very well,” says Leonard.
