City told to stick with Emterra, price increase coming

KAMLOOPS — City of Kamloops staff are recommending the city re-sign with its current residential recycling, Emterra Environmental despite a seven week service disruption this summer. 

During next week’s meeting staff will recommend council pick Emterra after only one other bid came back as part of the bidding process.

Public Works and Utilities Director Jen Fretz says going back to Emterra won’t be cheap. “In 2015, our processing fees were roughly $460,000 for the year. Those will be going up to an estimated $845,000 for 2016.”
