You know I love you. But in my humble opinion, you are making a big mistake.

Thank you so much for bringing me some of your Christmas Cake, is really IS fabulous. I know this is the first time you have made your mother’s recipe and you and I both know that you nailed it! Congrats, it might even be better than your moms!

Personally, I don’t want the recipe because chances of me actually making Christmas cake are slim to none – but … I know for a fact that other people want to get the recipe from you. And … I know that you don’t really want to share the recipe, it’s a family secret of some sort.

Today, I would like to try to change your mind … not just about sharing a recipe but about sharing life.

The question I pose to you is …Why would you want to deprive other people of sharing something wonderful with the world? Noone eats Christmas cake by themselves. People share it, they eat it with others. One cake will make many lips smile. It costs you nothing. It makes the baker happy to give something wonderful and the receiver happy to get it to share with their family and friends. By keeping the recipe a secret you limit the joy you can spread, you can only bake so much.

By now you know this is not just about Christmas cake. If we have a great idea that we share, our circle of influence widens and more people are impacted.

We never know how what we do will effect others, maybe this one simple recipe could mend a broken relationship, heal a heart or just make someones day a little brighter.

To share a recipe (or some other secret ingredient of life) or not, that is the question.

To me the answer is a no brainer. Share. And … make your corner of the world a little bit better.

What do you think? Comment most welcome!

Happy December!
