WolfPack baseball drop four at Lethbridge

KAMLOOPS — After losing both games yesterday, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team had a chance to try and head home with a .500 weekend on Sunday. The offense was cold for the ‘Pack on Sunday though as they lost both games of the doubleheader to the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs. The scores were 7-1 and 5-1.

 

Veteran Regan Gillis (Fort McMurray, AB) got the start and suffered the loss in game one. He tossed seven innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on 12 hits and two walks. He struck out two batters. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) pitched the eighth inning, giving up four runs (one earned) on two hits.

 

Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) drove in the ‘Pack’s only run with a single. He finished 1-4. Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) went 2-4. Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) went 1-3 with a run scored and a walk. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) finished 1-4 with a double. Josh HIllis (Calgary, AB) went 1-5.

 

In game two, Kirkland, Washington native Dillon Ferguson got the loss despite pitching well. He tossed six innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on just four hits while striking out eight batters. Joe Siniscalchi (Burnaby, BC) and Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) each tossed a scoreless inning.

 

Vance Fode drove in the only run in the second game with a sacrifice fly in his only at bat. Liam Rihela went 2-4. Jordy Cunningham (Ladner, BC) went 2-3 with a walk. Adam Filmon went 1-4 with a run scored. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) went 1-3 while Josh HIllis went 1-5.

 

Despite the four losses, Vance Fode had himself quite the weekend. He went 8-13 with a double, a home run, nine RBIs, three runs scored and a walk.

 

The WolfPack will have a quick turnaround as they welcome the Okanagan College Coyotes to town on Wednesday night.
