KAMLOOPS — An urgent search has been launched for a missing woman whose car was found east of Kamloops this morning.

The car, belonging to 62 year old Thelma Vaughan, has been sitting near Lafarge Bridge on East Shuswap Road for several days.

RCMP say they were alerted about the car this morning, and subsequent checks with the woman's home, her friends and family have turned up no clues as to the woman's location.

An RCMP search, both on the ground and with Air 4, has so far turned up nothing.

Thelma Vaughan is described as:

  • White
  • -5' 2"
  • -130 pounds
  • -Grey hair
  • -Hazel eyes

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the area where the car was found is popular with cross country skiiers.

Shelkie says it's hoped the woman's car wouldn't start, and she made her way into town by some other means.
