KAMLOOPS — Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training Melanie Mark has announced a new software-engineering degree program for Thompson Rivers University.

The province will provide TRU with $400,000 initially for increased students spaces, with the school expected to build up to 140 spaces in software engineering by 2022-23.

Right now, students can begin their engineering programs at TRU but must transfer to another school to obtain their degrees.

President Alan Shaver says TRU students have been asking for a full engineering program.
