VERNON — The quiet community of Needles has been rocked by a double killing.

Police say officers from Nakusp were called to a residence on Needles North Road about 5:30 Monday evening after reports of possible shots fired.

They secured the scene and called for an Emergency response team.

Later that evening entry was made at two separate and neighbouring residences where officers located a dead man at each property.

The RCMP's Southeast District Major Crimes Unit was called in to handle the investigation.

Dead are an 83 year old man and a 58 year old man.

Both had been shot.

Investigators are not looking for further suspects at this time.

RCMP investigators have been in contact with the men's next of kin.

The names of the men have not been released.

The BC Coroners office is also investigating the incident.
