Suspect in custody after domestic assault, standoff near Savona

SAVONA, B.C. — A 51 year old man is facing a series of charges after a tense standoff with RCMP near Savona today.

Police were called to a trailer on the Sebiston Creek Forest Service Road at about 10:49 Saturday morning, with the report that a domestic assault was taking place.

Officers, including members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, were on scene for about six hours.

The suspect was finally arrested safely at about 4:30 p.m.

The man, who is of no fixed address, is facing domestic assault and firearms charges.

RCMP say members are still on scene collecting evidence.

They thank the public for the help in the investigation.
