Milobar takes aim at BC Greens as fall session ends

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops-North Thompson Liberal MLA Peter Milobar is blasting B.C.’s minority government and its Green supporters for acting as one during this fall’s legislative session in Victoria.

“The BC Liberals were hoping for a bit more cooperation from the Green Party on a couple of different amendments,” Milobar told CFJC Today. “You know it’s a little disappointing that after saying they want to do politics different they’ve linked themselves fully with the BC NDP. So fair enough, we’ll move forward on that but things around proportional representation and taxpayer subsidies, we’re disappointed to see them not take a different stand.”

As for NDP Premier John Horgan’s claim that the new government is doing things differently, for example by setting the terms for a referendum on proportional representation next fall?

“We’re fine with having a referendum, we just want a fair set of rules. All our amendements to make it a level playing field were voted down,” he said, adding not getting more traction on campaign finance reform was frustrating.
