Vernon arson suspect fights child pornography charges

VERNON, B.C. — A Vernon man has pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges in BC Supreme Court.

55 year old William Munton is charged with two counts of making child pornography, and one of possessing it.

The alleged offences occurred between 2011 and 2016.

The Crown told Justice Hope Hyslop, images were seized from Munton’s home, his computer, and his cell phone.

The defence is seeking to have that evidence excluded, questioning the validity of the police search warrants.

The Crown says the images were seized as part of an arson investigation by police on Munton.

He is charged with 19 counts of arson in a separate case that has yet to be tried.
