KAMLOOPS — The 2017 Canada Summer Games wrapped up this past Sunday in Winnipeg.

Team B.C. had a record medal haul with 146 to place second behind Ontario in the medal standings.

Three of B.C.’s medals were won by a Kamloops athlete.

Cameron Chambers returned to Kamloops Monday afternoon with his Canada Games medals and trading pins draped around his neck.

His three medals include two silvers and a bronze won in the backstroke and freestyle events, setting personal best times along the way.

20-year old Cameron says the Canada Games have inspired him to move forward with his swimming career, saying “move on with my career and join the senior level with lower times — train more and get more independence too.”
