100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A 51 year old 100 Mile House man was arrested near his hometown this morning.

That normally wouldn't be noteworthy, except 100 Mile House and area are currently evacuated due to the nearby Gustafsen wildfire.

RCMP say a patrolling officer saw a light flick on and off in a home in 105 Mile.

When they went to investigate they found the man and arrested him for trespassing, and being unlawfully in an evacuated zone.

Police say the man had been asked by the home's occupant to go to the home and feed a pet that had been left behind.

RCMP say there are proper channels to ensure your home is safe and your pets are looked after, and this isn't one.
