KAMLOOPS — One worker is dead, and another is in hospital following a industrial accident at the Domtar Pulp Mill in Kamloops.

Craig Timm, Manager of Regional Public Affairs, said in an e-mailed statement, "It is with extreme sadness that Domtar is reporting the loss of a colleague at the Kamloops Pulp Mill. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, employees, and everyone associated with the mill."

Timm indicates the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 when two employees were working with heavy equipment at the plant.

"Domtar is cooperating fully with WorkSafeBC and all related authorities," said Timm.

Timm adds the company is offering support to employees and members of the mill's emergency response team.

No names have been released at this point, and the investigation is ongoing.
