Police searching for missing teenager who escaped arrest, jumped in river

KAMLOOPS — Police are now releasing details of a large-scale investigation on the North Shore.

Around 2am Kamloops RCMP were alerted to an alleged bicycle theft, shortly thereafter they located the bike.

Further efforts aided by a police dog located a teenage girl hiding under a dock in the Thompson River.

The suspect was then arrested, but during the arrest, and prior to being placed in handcuffs she managed to escaped custody and re-entered the river.
