KAMLOOPS — Water taps and fountains have been bagged at Summit Elementary School in Kamloops after a recent test revealed elevated levels of lead.

Director of Facilities and Maintenance Art McDonald says the test came from a single water fountain in the school.

In an informational email sent to parents, the district says it’s believed the elevated lead level originated from the building’s plumbing.

Summit Elementary opened in 1980.
