KAMLOOPS — The winter season is shaping up to be a relatively quiet one for Kamloops Search and Rescue.

Search Manager Alan Hobler says so far, the group’s been called to around half a dozen rescues in the Kamloops backcountry.

“Both November and December were really quiet for us,” said Hobler. “We’ve had two to three calls in January which is about normal for us. Some year’s we’re really busy up at Sun Peaks and others not at all. So far this year we haven’t been called once up to Sun Peaks.”

Out-of-bound skiers and injured snowmobilers make up the majority of KSR’s calls, with last weekend’s rescue of an injured snowmobiler northeast of Clearwater their most notable rescue of the season.
