KAMLOOPS —We'll get an update later this morning on an incident last night in the 100 block Waddington Drive in Sahali.

Staff Sergeant Ed Preto says just before 6:00 PM, police responded to a residence after a male had called 9-1-1, but when police arrived, the man refused to come to the door to speak with them.

A standoff ensued until 8:30 PM, when a 33-year old man was taken into custody without incident and brought back to the RCMP detachment.

Preto says they're investigating the case as a domestic violence incident, but so far, no further details have been released.

Witnesses say police responded with full force to the incident as a precaution, with several mounties appearing to be heavily armed.

RCMP say they want to thank residents of the area for their cooperation during the incident.
