KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a morning traffic stop resulted in an investigation that spanned both sides of the Thompson River.

The stop this morning saw officers arrest a man for possession and trafficking of drugs.

Officers then raided a home in Sahali, as well as Heavy Metal Gym on Briar Avenue on the Kamloops North Shore.

While witnesses described the sound of shots fired as officers entered the gym, Cpl. Jody Neuls says that was actually the distraction device employed by Emergency Response Team members.

Neuls says one man was arrested at the scene.

Officers are now determining whether there is an organized crime component to their investigation, though they say that is usually the case with drug busts.

As for the public, Neuls says it's not believed there are any 'outstanding safety concerns.'
